Mono printing on fabric

I whipped this up today! Another bit of experimentation for my book project. I mono printed onto pieces of a Shari, collaged and added a bit more colour! Its made me think about displaying my book in the form of prayer mats???

Mono prints

I did these today and I have plenty more but these are the only two i worked into properly! I bought gold leaf which sounds more fun than it is! Pretty annoying stuff to be honest but oh well it looks alright! better than it does in these photos because it catches the light nicely! Anyway, today was pretty slow but alright! I only really did mono prints but I played around with it quite a lot!

Ganesh

These are a couple more dry points I did the other day for our new book project! Im taking the story of the little match-girl and illustrating it as a story of a little indian beggar girls! Im illustrating the other characters such as the grandma as different Hindu gods. Hence Ganesh! Im going to try out a few more because Im not happy with the top one plus I want to try printing it on fabric!

Collograph

An Amsterdam canal boat! My posts are getting more and more muddled with old and new bits and bobs...they will be kept on track from now on!

Dry points

I did these a while ago, the top one was my first go...dry points are fun!

Life drawing

These are from my last life drawing session! Ive never done mono printing when life drawing before so this was really interesting and i was actually really happy with the results especially the bottom one! It was nice to be able to use colour :)

Mr Fluffy

My fluffy baby! This was actually the first day I got my camera...think this was...2/3 years ago? ahhh im too tired to remember! Im exhaaaausted!

Photos

I was just having a gander at the photo's Ive taken over the years- first time ive looked at them in a while actually so thought I would sling a few of my favourites on here!I didn't really realise how many photos I had of the beach. Im pretty much surrounded by them where i live which i love (but not quite as much as my dog...oh ill post a photo of him, he's beautiful!) One time I just spent the whole day going from beach to beach with my friend taking loads of photos! OH and the top photo I have framed in my living room! Its not that amazing but looks nice and pretty on our wall!

Magazine spread

I loved creating this. We had a trip to the Maidstone UCA campus for a one day project. I love to play around with composition so it was a great day for me and I was really happy with the outcome.

Here's Freddy

For my final outcome I got a mask and cut it all up, burnt it, built it up etc and made it into a clowns face. I then made a box for it to sit in with curtains for a peep show type thing! I also recorded the reactions of some people looking in! The reactions werent as great as I had hoped but there were a couple of good ones.

IT

I then watched 'IT' which made me quite scared of clowns! I again used face paints for this!

Ill whisper it to you

For my clown project again...I watched a film called Dead Silence which I thought would be about clowns but, no it was about puppets. Although, right at the end there was this pretty scary clown puppet which i then painted using face paints. Text is done by hand and the clown photo imported later on photoshop. Facepaints were suprisingly really great to use on paper.

Clown sketch 2

Just another little sketchbook number!

Clown sketch

Clown

One of the photo's I took after painting my sisters face as 3 different types of clown. Part of my research for my clown phobia project.

Cold Mountain

Its basically a fozen book. I had a spare copy of cold mountain and thought of the link to ice so then surrounded it in water, stuck it in the freezer and then recorded it melting. Oh also I cut little fir trees to stick up in the middle of the book.

Burger

This was my 10 hour final piece! Meter by meter canvas so it looks pretty mental in person. I loved painting this piece working in oils it great! It's now got a proud space on the wall in my old art room! Annnd was also put into the John Downton exhibition this year which I took as quite an achievement!

Muscle man

This was just a bit of fun to be honest. I hope you can tell its muscles...i dont really think Kat knew what she was letting herself into...she got pretty impatient.

Reflections

As you can probably tell I was a lover of doing painting...and I still am! I find it really relaxing and enjoyable! I really need to find time to do some more up to date ones because painting on canvas really does calm me down! A bit like a good cuppa tea!

The three ages of man.

Another oldy of when i studied aging- my nephew, brother and pappa! The concept was having the material I painted on, relating to the age of the person i.e. bark for the oldest and perspex for the youngest.

Rust numero 2

This was the follow up to my last rusty piece using a larger handmade canvas of 3 layers for the bottom layer i used a mixture of sand PVA and paint...it had a really good effect! I vote everyone tries it, it makes a really nice noise when you paint it on.

Rust

I did this piece ages ago but really enjoyed playing around with it! We were looking at links and connections so I was investigating the link between materials and the weather...which led me to rusty metal! I used textured wall paper and cartridge paper to created the texture which was good fun to use as it got really messy!
